Prespa hosts the largest colony of Dalmatian pelicans (αργυροπελεκάνος) in the world, numbering more than 1200 pairs. They are one of Prespa’s rare species protected by a series of national and European conventions. Dalmatian pelicans nest in Small Prespa and fish in Great Prespa Lake.

You can admire them at Koula isthmus (between the two Lakes), 7 km from Aghios Germanos or at Psarades (the Great Prespa harbor and fishing village), 15 km from Aghios Germanos
