Every autumn, workers and their mules climb into the oak forests to harvest wood for the household stoves which will warm the houses across Prespa. The mules bring the logs down to a site near the road for the trucks, careening down steep hillsides, whilst the woodsmen stack the logs into snaking walls as tall as a man and as long as a football pitch.
