Drainage

Photos © Angela Georganta, 2016
Keeping the water away from the house foundations is a key job in a renovation project.

A big ditch was dug around the Akropotamias house (Similar work was done at the cottage restoration). The foundation stones were cleaned and re-pointed, before the plastering and the application of the protective membrane. The perforated draining pipe (not shown in the photographs) was covered with a mud shielding cloth and pebbles all the way up to the grould level. The rain water collected by the pipe is directed underground to the Neoulas stream ("Ρέμα του Νέουλα") by Akropotamias road.
